FLORESVILLE ALTERNATIVE CENTER ENROLLMENT INFORMATION & DISCIPLINE PLAN
Your child has been assigned to the Floresville Alternative Center for a specific number of days. The Alternative Center has a different Discipline Plan than other campuses which allow for certain consequences should students violate Alternative Center rules or requirements. This plan will be explained to you and you will receive a copy. Legal guardian must enroll the student.
Successful Day: Any day in which a student has not violated any rule contained in the Floresville Alternative Center Discipline Plan and was not absent.
Unsuccessful Day: Any day in which a student has accumulated one or more Minor Rule violations. This day must be “made up” by the student achieving a subsequent successful day. An unsuccessful day will be recorded for a student when he/she violates any of the following minor rules:
MINOR RULE VIOLATIONS
1. Tardiness – Must be in seat at 8:00 a.m. before bell rings
2. Failure to complete all academic assignments
3. Failure to bring school supplies, i.e., paper, pencil, pen
4. Communicating with other student(s), i.e., talking passing notes, signing/hand gestures
5. Failure to raise hand when needing to ask a question
6. Dress Code violations (SEE REVERSE SIDE)
7. Failure to stay on task, i.e., sleeping/head down on desk
8. Bringing any of the following into the Alternative Center building: backpacks, briefcases, fanny packs, tote bags, purses, billfolds/wallets, cell
phones, hats, candy, gum or any item considered inappropriate by administration
9. Displaying gang logo/paraphernalia
Excessively frequent Minor Rules violations will be dealt with as follows:
ü The student will be referred to the Behavioral Counselor after 3 Minor Rules violations during the same day.
ü The student will be suspended from 1 to 3 days if he/she violates a Minor Rule for the fourth time during the same day.
The disciplinary response to Minor Rule violations will occur in the following sequence:
|
NUMBER OF UNSUCCESSFUL DAYS |
CONSEQUENCE |
|
3 days |
Student is referred to Behavioral Counselor |
|
5 days |
Written Warning Notice mailed to child/parent |
|
10 days |
Parent conference with principal or designee |
|
* One half original assignment |
Maybe recommended for expulsion/removal |
*The number of unsuccessful days will be adjusted incrementally for DAEP placements less than 30 days or more than 30 days.
Any student suspended three (3) or more times for Minor Rule violations during their 30 day placement may be recommended for expulsion/removal. Students
assigned for fewer than 30 days may be referred for expulsion/removal after two (2) suspensions for Minor Rules violations. Students assigned for more than
30 days may be referred for expulsion/removal after the fourth or fifth suspension for Minor Rule violations.
Excused absence days recorded for a student will be considered neither successful nor unsuccessful. The student will essentially “make up” the day toward the
goal of earning 30 successful days (more or less depending upon the length of initial assignment). Unexcused absence recorded for a student will result in an
unsuccessful day. TRUANCY will extend a student’s assignment by 30 school days.

1. You engage in persistent misconduct, i.e., excessively frequent violation of Minor Rules.

TRANSPORTATION DISMISSAL: Dismissal time is 3:00 p.m. Monday – Friday. Any day on which the student leaves early will not count as a successful
day. A parent or adult approved by a parent must sign out a student. Students will not be allowed to walk off campus and cannot leave with another student
who may be driving. Students not signed out by 3:15 p.m. will be supervised by Alternative Center staff.
