December  2009 Board Recognitions

The December Students of the Month are  Erin Hernandez and Cody Moczygemba.

December  Female Student of the Month

The December Female Student of the Month is Erin Hernandez. Erin is the eighteen-year-old daughter of Margaret and Eric Hernandez. Erin has been an instrumental member of several FHS athletic teams, participating in softball, volleyball, cross country, basketball and golf. In 2007, Erin assisted the Varsity Basketball team in earning a championship at the Uvalde invitational tournament. That same year, she was a member of the 1st JV Cross Country Team.  She also earned all-tournament honors for the junior varsity volleyball team. This year, Erin finished in 4th place at district cross country and the team finished first place overall.
Despite the demands of her extracurricular activities and her academic work, Erin is extremely active in her community and at Sacred Heart Church. Erin has helped paint the Sacred Heart School. During past holiday seasons, she has sang Christmas Carols at the local veterans’ home and has spent time ringing a bell outside the local Wal-Mart to help raise money for the less fortunate. Erin also participated in Floresville’s MLK Walk.
 
Erin is currently employed as an administrative assistant at FHS through the FHS Co-Op Work Based Learning Class.
Upon graduation in June, Erin plans to pursue a degree in either nursing or psychology. She plans to attend a community college to complete her basic coursework, before transferring to a 4-year university.

December Male Student of the Month

The December Male Student of the Month is Cody Moczygemba. Cody is the seventeen-year-old son of Tammy and Jimmy Moczygemba.
Cody has earned honors for his efforts in the classroom. In addition to being a member in good standing with the National Honor Society, he has also been recognized for perfect attendance and for making the “A” honor roll.
 As a member of the tennis team, Cody assisted his teammates in earning 2nd place team tennis honors. As a member of the Eagle Creek  4-H club, Cody is a leader among his peers, having served as President, Council Delegate and Vice President. He is also active in Wilson County shooting sports, and has earned 4th and 6th place state honors in rifle competition. He has also participated in livestock shows.
 
When not busy with extracurricular activities, Cody is giving back to his community. He is very active at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Elmendorf, where he often assists the Men’s Club. Each year he helps with his church’s annual picnic and has participated in Lentent Fish Frys. He has also participated in Adopt-A-Highway campaigns.
Cody is currently employed at the Floresville Primary School.
Upon graduation in June, Cody plans to attend Texas A&M University where he will major in Civil and Mechanical Engineering.
