Problems with Your Tablet and:
Thumb Drives, Flash Drives, Pin Drives, Card Readers, Memory Cards, etc.

Many folks have reported problems when they have tried to use their tablet and some sort of external drive such as those listed above. For example, some people have been able to use the memory card from their digital camera once just fine, but when they tried to use it a second time, the computer wouldn't show the card or the pictures on it. Others have reported that they can plug in a thumb drive (aka flash drive, pin drive, etc.), hear the computer recognize it, see that it can be safely removed down on the task bar, etc., but cannot actually find the thumb drive or open it or use it. We think the problem is that your tablet is always going to look for the network drive as the F drive, but also wants to think of the extra drive (thumb drive, card reader, etc.) as the F drive, hence causing a conflict. Below is what seems to work to fix the problem. Let me know if you try this and it doesn't work for you.

Insert your thumb drive, pin drive, card reader, or whatever.
Double-click on My Computer and take note of what letters you see assigned to drives.
On the tablet, you will certainly see C and E; those are already assigned as your hard drive (in two parts). You'll probably see the F drive, too, which is the network. You probably won't see anything assigned as G.
Right-click on my computer.
Choose manage, disk management.
Right-click on the thumb drive or whatever your extra drive is, from the choices given.
Choose "change drive letter and paths"
Find a letter which is not being used, pick it, change to it, and click ok. ('G' is probably ok.)
Say ok again, yes, whatever, until you're done.

When you open up My Computer again, you should see and be able to use your pin drive.
