What is Response to Intervention? Reading RTI is an intervention program that helps children learn to read. Depending on the grade level and each student's needs the child may come for two-five days a week. Some children may come for 20 minutes daily while other children might come 45 minutes daily two days a week. The time a child attends is based on the amount of time the staff identifies as best for the child. Most children who come to Reading RTI are in Tier 2 or Tier 3. If you would like more information on which tier your child is in please contact your child's homeroom teacher or an RTI teacher. Classroom and RTI teachers work as a team to help your child succeed! What happens when my child comes to RTI? When children attend Reading RTI they will work on skills they are missing to help them with their reading. The majority of the skills will be from the Five Components of Reading: phonemic awareness, phonics, vocabulary, fluency, and comprehension. Second graders will also have an additional component of spelling/writing. Students will work in small groups of 2-4 children. Please see below for links to the staff that will work with your child during RTI. |
