September Students of the Month

Female Student of the Month – September

        Angel Rosas is the 17-year-old daughter of Betty and Gabriel Rosas.  She is an active student at FHS and participates in many different organizations.  With an approximate 3.9 GPA, Angel is in the top 10% of the senior class. Her strengths are: Relator, Responsibility, Includer, Learner and Discipline.

       Angel is currently in her 4th year of AVID and was recently selected to represent AVID for the Floresville Peanut Festival.  In AVID, Angel works as a tutor and sets a positive example for others in her class to follow.  She has a challenging course load, taking all advanced and dual credit classes.  She is a member of the National Honor Society and is in her second year as a Link Crew Leader.

       In addition to her coursework, Angel is a starting point guard for the Jaguar Basketball Team and runs Cross Country. She has received recognition for Academic All-District. 

In her free time, Angel participates in community service both through school and the community. She has assisted with, and coached, the Special Olympics teams at FISD and volunteers at the Peanut Festival Goober Games, The Salvation Army, Sacred Heart Festival, and Warm Springs Physical Therapy. 

Angel plans to attend Texas Tech, Mary-Hardin Baylor (to which she has already been accepted), or Texas State University and major in Kinesiology. She hopes to pursue a career in Physical Therapy.

Male Student of the Month – September

       Mark Trevino is the 17-year-old son of Myra and Steven Trevino. His strengths are: Learner, Input, Communication, Deliberative and Arranger.

       Mark serves in the National Honor Society as the Student Council Representative; he is the current Student Council President and Senior Class Representative for the Mighty Tiger Band.  He has served as a Class of 2018 officer for several years.  In addition to his leadership positions on campus, Mark has participated in the Mighty Tiger Band for all four years of high school as well as the Student Council.

       While his activities take much of his time, Mark takes all advanced and dual credit classes.

Outside of school, Mark is an active member of his church ACTS group and volunteers at Vacation Bible School and blood drives.  He has participated in various canned food, toy drives and highway clean-up events.

       Mark currently works through the school’s business practicum program at the South Elementary After-School program.  He plans to pursue a degree in Early Childhood Development with a specialty in Special Education.  Mark plans to attend Angelo State University.
