Dr. Bays Recognizes Tami Hernandez

Dr. Bays recognized Tami Hernandez, FNE Paraprofessional, for her contributions that go far beyond her job title. Ms. Hernandez’s primary role is teaching students in the FNE computer lab. She says her favorite part of the job is working with the kids, “I take pride in contributing to the development of their technology skills, often in building them from the ground up. I love knowing that they’re going off to middle school at the end of their elementary years with the necessary knowledge and skills to be successful.”

Along with her normal responsibilities, she does many things outside the scope of her computer lab duties that significantly enhance the FNE experience for students and staff. She helps with the Robotics and Art Clubs, assists teachers with technology issues and problems, keeps the FNE website updated, spends extra hours at campus events, is a member of the campus Technology Committee, and will be helping with FNE’s summer STEM program. She does these things not because they are her job, but because she believes they help people grow and learn. “I really enjoy being able to provide a welcoming, fun, educational environment for the students here at FNE. I'm always learning — always! In the technology world, constant learning is vital, as it is in a state of continuous change. You have to be flexible and willing to tackle new obstacles, to work outside of your comfort zone and become acquainted with devices and techniques that may or may not be your personal cup of tea,” said Hernandez.

At FISD we focus on our students’ and staff’s strengths. We believe that when people are able to apply their natural strengths in their daily work, the benefits are abundant both for the individual and for his/her peers. Ms. Hernandez is a perfect example of this and we are grateful for the difference she makes at FNE!
