Mr. Jim Cathey was born on Vandenburg, Air Force Base; Lompoc, California and was raised in Great Falls, Montana and Odessa, Texas. While a student at Odessa High School, he was a member of the All-Region Band, All-Region Orchestra, Area Band, and Area Orchestra. Mr. Cathey received his BME from West Texas State University in 1989 and received his MA in music from WT in 1995.
Mr. Cathey taught for four years at Bonham Middle School in Amarillo and two years at San Jacinto Junior High School in Midland before becoming the Assistant Band Director at Floresville Middle School. After four years as FMS Assistant Director, he was the FMS Head Director for three years. Now in his 10th year in Floresville, Mr. Cathey is the head director at the high school and Director of Bands for Floresville ISD.
Mr. James Buxton is in his fourth year at Floresville High School after teaching for ten years in New Mexico. He was Director of Bands for seven years at Marshall Junior High in Clovis and Director of Bands at Gallup High School for three years. Mr. Buxton received a Bachelors degree of Music Education from West Texas State University in 1988, where he was named Outstanding Bandsman and is presently pursuing a Master's degree from Eastern New Mexico University. In 1987 he marched a lead baritone spot in the SkyRyders Drum and Bugle Corps of Hutchinson, Kansas.
Mr. Buxton was born in Kentucky and raised in Albuquerque, New Mexico. He graduated from Albuquerque High School where he was a three year member of the New Mexico All-State Band and Albuquerque Youth Symphony. He was also named Outstanding Soloist at the Pageant of Bands Marching Festival.
