Try these fluency power points.  Download them onto your computer.  Try reading the page before it turns.  You can speed it up or slow it down.  This will help you increase your reading fluency!  See if you can beat your speed!

Homework Schedule:


Reading:  Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday evenings, read for 20 minutes and then write a short summary of what you read.  Write this summary in your homework folder on the homework page for the day.

Spelling:

Monday:  Write your spelling words 5 times each.  Watch your spacing and writing.


Tuesday:
  Choose 5 words from your list.  Write 5 very good sentences.


Wednesday:  Practice spelling test.  Parents or guardians give you a spelling test that you write down onto paper. Check the words and study the ones you have trouble with.  Turn in the test for homework.

 

Thursday:  Practice spelling words for the test on Friday!

 

Friday:  Test at school

About your teacher:
     Mrs. LaFrance was born and raised in
Floresville, Texas.  She attended Southwest Texas State University where she received her Bachelors and Master's Degrees in Education.  Her specialization is in Reading and Early Childhood.  She has a certification in Special Education.  She is also certified to teach the Gifted and Talented enrichment.  Mrs. LaFrance has 28 years of experience in teaching.  She has taught first, second, third and transitional first grades.  She has taught in Texas, Alabama and Oklahoma, but there is no place like home! 

    Mrs. LaFrance is married and has a son at Texas A&M.  He is a Senior and also a member of  the Corps of Cadets at Texas A&M.  Mrs. LaFrance also has 2 stepsons who live in Florida.  At home, Mrs. LaFrance likes to read, make quilts, cook and bake.  She also enjoys fishing with her husband, Bill.  Her favorite TV shows are all the CSI shows, Criminal Minds, the Food Network Channel and football games.  She also loves to go camping (tent!) and tubing in the river.  Her next venture is kayak fishing.  Stay tuned to see how that goes!
