Creating a Flyer using Microsoft Word
Six Pillars of Character
Objective: Using Microsoft Word, create a flyer based the Six Pillars of Character. The flyer must contain the FISD Motto – “Building a Community of Character” and one or more of the Six Pillars of Character. Use the following to make your flyer creative, attractive and express the pillar or pillars that you have chosen.

ü WordArt (Insert Tab)
ü Clip art (Insert Tab)
ü Pictures (Insert Tab)
ü Shapes (Insert Tab)
ü Borders (Page Layout Tab)
ü Page Color (Page Layout Tab)
Requirements:
The flyer must be one page long and demonstrate good design techniques.
You must cite the source of all graphics used in this flyer.
You must include a header or footer that says: “Created by __________”.
Place your final product in the drop box.
Following are definitions for the Six Pillars of Character to help give you ideas for graphics to use in the flyer. Try to find clip art and/or pictures that depict the pillar(s) you have chosen.
v Trustworthiness – Be honest; don’t deceive, cheat, or steal; be reliable (do what you say you’ll do); have courage to do the right thing; build a good reputation; be loyal (stand by your family, friends, and country)
v Respect – Treat others with respect; follow the Golden Rule; be tolerant of differences; use good manners; don’t use bad language; be considerate of the feelings of others; don’t threaten, hit, or hurt anyone; deal peacefully with anger, insults, and disagreements
v Responsibility – Do what you are supposed to do; persevere (keep on trying); always do your best; use self-control; be self-disciplined; think before you act (consider the consequences); be accountable for your choices
v Fairness – Play by the rules; take turns and share; be open-minded (listen to others); don’t take advantage of others; don’t blame others carelessly
v Caring – Be kind; be compassionate and show you care; express gratitude; forgive others; help people in need
v Citizenship – Do your share to make your school and community better; cooperate; get involved in community affairs; stay informed; vote; be a good neighbor; obey laws and rules; respect authority; protect the environment
