Mr. Curtin

John D. Curtin graduated from McNeese State University in Lake Charles, Louisiana, with a Bachelor of Music Education degree. He is in his 18th year of teaching band and his 14th as the Director of Bands at Floresville Middle School in Floresville, Texas. He has also been Director of Bands at Henry Middle School in Cedar Park, Texas and an Assistant Director at Kitty Hawk Middle School in San Antonio, Texas. His duties include conducting the Symphonic Band, assisting the Concert Band, and teaching beginning Flute, French Horn, and Saxophone. Under his direction, the Floresville Middle School Bands have received consistent UIL Sweepstakes and “Best in Class” awards at various music festivals and contests. In 1998 the Floresville MS Band was a Texas State Honor Band finalist. He has been named to Who’s Who Among America’s Students in Universities and Colleges and Who’s Who Among America’s Teachers. His professional affiliations include the National Band Association, the Texas Music Educators Association, the Texas Bandmasters Association, Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia, and the Knights of Columbus.
