Rules/Procedures/Consequences/
Grading Policies
An optimal learning environment includes rules for
behavior. We believe that every student wants to behave appropriately in class.
We will not tolerate any student interfering with teaching or another student’s
learning.
EXPECTATIONS:
1. Take care of yourself. 2. Take care of others. 3. Take care of this place.
CLASSROOM RULES FOR SUCCESS:
1. Be in assigned seat with all necessary materials (sharpened pencils, pens, I.D. card, Agenda, library book, supplies, and assignments) when the tardy bell rings.
2. Be
respectful. (Keep hands, feet, and property to oneself. Keep all belongings out
of walkways.)
3. Follow all teacher
directions.
4. Follow all classroom
procedures.
5. Dismissal is by the
teacher, not by the bell.
6. Follow all handbook
rules and procedures.
CONSEQUENCES: Minor Offenses
1. Verbal warning
2. Lunch detention or
other teacher consequence
3. Parent contact
4. Possible Office
Referral
Major Offenses =
Office Referral
ABSENCES/MAKE-UP WORK: Students should get their admission slips from the office before reporting to first period. It is the student’s responsibility to ask for make-up work when he returns to school. The number of days allowed for make-up is equal to the number of days absent. After that time, points will be deducted for lateness. If a student knows in advance that he will be absent from school, he should inform the teacher and ask for make-up work.
GRADING POLICY:
Daily Work 61%
Tests/Projects 25%
Six
Weeks/Semester Exam 14%
Late Work: (A) Ten points
will be deducted for each day a paper is late for a maximum of 30 points.
Papers will not be accepted more than three days late. On the fourth day that a
paper is late, a grade of 0 will be assigned. (B) Extra credit, when offered,
will not be accepted late.
HOMEWORK: Homework is an
important part of reinforcing lessons and teaching responsibility. For full
credit, it must be turned in at the beginning of the period (or as soon as the
teacher asks for it). Students will often have on-going projects,
spelling/vocabulary lessons, writing assignments, and independent reading
assignments. Assignments should be complete, neat, legible, in black or blue
ink (unless otherwise requested), and on time.
AGENDA: Each student will be
issued a Student Agenda (assignment book) for recording the daily class agenda,
homework, and organizing his schedule. It must be brought to school daily.
Parents are encouraged to review the Agenda with their child.
TARDINESS: Tardiness will
result in disciplinary action as outlined in the 2003-20034Student-Parent
Handbook.
LIBRARY
EXPECTATIONS:
Students are required to have an Accelerated Reader book in class every day.
They are responsible for turning in library books on time and taking care of
fines for overdue books. Students are not allowed to check out a new book if
they owe a fine, have an overdue book or do not have an I.D. card.
FOLDERS: Graded papers will
be returned regularly and placed in the student’s class folder, which will be
kept in the classroom.
TEXTBOOKS: State-approved
textbooks are provided for each subject or class for student use during class.
Textbooks may be issued to parents upon request for student home use. Parents
will be responsible for payment of any lost/damaged textbooks.
