AGENDA:  Each student will be issued a Student Agenda (assignment book) for recording the daily class agenda, homework, and organizing his schedule.  It must be brought to school daily.  Parents are encouraged to review the Agenda with their child.

TARDINESS:  Tardiness will result in disciplinary action as outlined in the 2009-2010 Student-Parent Handbook.

CHEATING:  (acquiring answers or providing answers)  Cheating will result in disciplinary action as outlined in the 2009-2010 Student-Parent Handbook.

LIBRARY EXPECTATIONS:  Students are required to have an Accelerated Reader book in class every day.  They are responsible for turning in library books on time and taking care of fines for overdue books.  Students are not allowed to check out a new book if they owe a fine, have an overdue book or do not have an I.D. card.

REQUIRED READING:  All middle school students are expected to have a book with them at all times.  School-wide, students are required to read for a minimum of 100 minutes each week.  They may have a book from home or a book from the library – NO magazines.  We will conduct “book checks” to make sure your child is prepared to read whenever it is required and/or when they finish classwork before the end of the period.  Everyone will start off with a “book check” grade of 100 for each nine-week’s period.  Students will lose points at each book check if they do not have their book with them.

The students will be required to take a minimum number of A/R tests throughout the course of the school year.  The tests will count as daily grades and must be taken as follows:

First quarter – one A/R test

Second quarter – two A/R tests

Third quarter – two A/R tests

Fourth quarter – one A/R test

Eighth-grade students will be required to complete one book report per nine weeks’ period.  The book report will be assigned by the teacher and should be about the A/R book read (and tested) during the nine weeks’ period.

FOLDERS:  Graded papers will be returned regularly and placed in the student’s class folder, which will be kept in the classroom.

TEXTBOOKS:  State-approved textbooks are provided for each subject or class for student use during class.  Textbooks may be issued to parents upon request for student home use.  Parents will be responsible for payment of any lost/damaged textbooks
