II. NEED HELP??????

A.  Assignment Center – It is your responsibility to attend Assignment Center when you need help. You don’t have to be assigned by a teacher.  At times, you may be assigned.  It will be Tuesdays and Thursdays from 7:30 am to 8:30 am.  A Math teacher will always be there to help.  You must stay the entire hour.

B.      Tutorials /Advisory– Ask your math teacher for a pass if you find you need help with your math.  It is your    responsibility to get the help you need.

III. Grades

A.  Textbooks - A textbook will be issued for you to keep at home, if requested.

B.  Assignment - Expect homework every night.  If you do not finish an assignment in class, assume it is homework.  (If your child does not have a written assignment because he/she finished it in class, please have he/she practice or review previous skills or basic facts.)  It is your responsibility to complete and turn in your assignments. Special Note – Some assignments maybe required to be completed in class that day.  After TAKS, all assignments will be completed in class.

1.  Late work – Most of the time students will have 2 days to complete an assignment without penalty. Work turned in early will earn 5 bonus points.  If an assignment is not turned in on the due date, it is late. An assignment 1 day late will receive a grade not to exceed 90.  An assignment 2 days late will receive a grade not to exceed 80. An assignment 3 days late will receive a grade not to exceed 70. Any assignment more than 10 days late will receive a grade not to exceed 50. Assignments more than 15 days late will receive a zero.

2.  Quality Work – Shows all calculations, is done in pencil, is legible, and is numbered correctly.  I will not accept it if it is less than quality work.

3.  Heading – Will be correctly filled in.

4.  Corrections – Students will be allowed to correct most daily assignments. Assignments turned in on time can be corrected for a grade up to a 75. Late work may be corrected but will not receive a grade higher than a 70. Assignments more than 10 days late may not be corrected for a better grade. Students will receive only one opportunity to correct each assignment. The corrections will be done on a separate sheet of paper in pencil and attached to the original.  Appropriate work must be shown for all problems that must be corrected.  Multiple choice worksheets must include work that justifies the answer choice.  Teachers may choose to give an alternate assignment instead.

5.    Extra Credit – Teachers will not assign or create any extra credit work.

C.   Tests– We will have 2-3 tests per nine weeks.   These can be corrected to a 75 if you receive a failing grade.  There will be a nine weeks checkpoint test (1st, 2nd, and 3rd nine weeks).  An end of the year exam will be given at the end of the 4th nine weeks.  Nine week tests and end of year exam cannot be corrected.
