TAKE A LOOK AT WHAT'S GOING ON IN READING...
| 7th Grade Reading |
Reading logs and book checks will be conducted during the following weeks...
READING LOG AND BOOK CHECK
TEACHER INFORMATION
2009 - 2010
Reading Log Info:
6th
& 7th grade students are responsible for completed reading logs.
Once the students enter 8th grade, they will no longer do
reading logs because of the comprehensive “book studies” that they are
required to do. They will
however be responsible for book checks as well as AR testing.
If you have a 6th or 7thgrade Reading TAKS
class, the Reading Logs will be checked by their “regular”
The dates for the
Reading Logs have already been set up for the 2009-2010 school year.
These dates are listed below, but as the school year moves along we
can always meet to make adjustments in the event that we run into conflicts
or problems. It is HIGHLY recommended that by the 2nd progress
report, you have entered an “on-going” grade to keep parents aware of
whether or not Reading Logs are being turned in.
By doing so, you’ll need to adjust the “points worth” column and the
readjust it for the report cards at the end of the nine week period.
The week #s listed below are the dates that we
pass out the new reading log.

AR Goals & Incentives
*PLEASE REVIEW INFO WITH STUDENTS BEFORE THEY BEGIN TESTING*
(AR testing may begin the week of September 21st)
(FINAL
DRAFT)
2009 – 2010
1.
Students WILL BE REQUIRED to take a minimum number of AR tests
throughout the school year.
Grades will be recorded for AR testing as follows:
one the first quarter; two the second quarter; two the third
quarter; and one the fourth quarter.
We are only requiring one book the first and fourth quarter due to
lack of library time. For
the first and fourth quarter, the highest AR test grade will be recorded AS
A
DAILY GRADE. For the
second and third quarter, the highest two AR test grades will be recorded AS
TWO SEPARATE DAILY GRADES.
If a student chooses not to take a quiz because he/she hasn’t read a
book, then he/she will receive a ZERO as a daily grade.
2.
Students must pass a test at their level with a 70% or better
in order to have their name put in for a drawing.
The more they test, the more times their name gets put in for the
drawing.
3.
Out of all of the “qualifying” students whose names were put in for
the drawing, two
students per grade
level will be randomly selected for the AR prize each quarter.
The “testing
dates” are highlighted in yellow.
These dates do NOT correspond
exactly to the nine weeks/quarter dates on our school calendar because
we need a week’s time to have the reports run and grades entered.
The prizes “per quarter” are as follows:
