Parent Involvement and Training

FISD strongly believes that parents are an essential part of the success and reputation of our district. Parents are an integral part of their child's education and an active member of the ARD committee.

Things to consider and contribute to an ARD meeting for your child:

If you do not understand the terminology about the evaluation results, please ask questions.
Share information about your child's strength and educational needs.
Assist and contribute in the development of individualized educational program (IEP) goals, short-term objectives, and benchmarks
Provide information to related services if necessary
Contribute your ideas for your child's appropriate educational placement

Some of the services FISD can provide are parent consultation on student concerns or performance, parent education, and support groups.

In - Home Parent Training for students with Autism In-home professionals assist parents with short-term goals and objectives to generalize skills in the home, community, and school environment.

Parent Education for students with Autism

At the request of parents special education will provide parent training pertaining to your child and families individual needs.
