Angela Garcia, Floresville Alternative Education Center Principal, was chosen by Raise Your Hand Texas to participate in "Leadership: An Evolving Vision" offered through The Principals’ Center at the Harvard Graduate School of Education. This summer, Mrs. Garcia spent a week at Harvard with educators from all over the world examining the challenges to raising student achievement and working with experts in school leadership to master effective strategies for building successful schools.
“It was such an honor to be selected by the Raise Your Hand Texas Foundation as one of the 14 Principals from Texas. This experience was transformational for me. Some of Harvard’s top professors and educational research associates walked us through collaborative processes that asked us to reflect and refine our own leadership skills. I had the opportunity to work with school leaders from around the world, which has really empowered me to look at public education with a much more globalized perspective,” said Mrs. Garcia.
Mrs. Garcia will continue to work with her colleagues from The Principals’ Center throughout the year.
“I look forward to the work that I will be doing with my 2019 Raise Your Hand Texas cohort for the next year; as we will be supporting each other as we continue to refine our practice and champion for public education in Texas.”
FISD is proud of Mrs. Garcia and looks forward to watching her learning transform leadership throughout her campus and the district.
