In February of 2020, FISD will be represented at the Texas Computer Education Conference by some of its outstanding innovators. FMS Art teachers, Megan Aguilar and Erin Aschenbeck, Assistant Superintendent, Dr. Rhonda Wade and Digital Learning Specialist, Denise Knight were chosen to present at this year’s state conference.
TCEA is a member-based organization devoted to advancing technology in education. The organization solicits presentation proposals from its members and chooses the best to present at the state conference.
Mrs. Aschenbeck’s and Mrs. Aguilar’s presentation is entitled “Purposeful Technology Integration in the Visual Fine Arts Classroom. They will help educators from all over the state learn how to use technology to enhance their visual arts students’ learning.
Dr. Wade is excited that FISD teachers are building capacity and are confident about their ability to share their knowledge about digital learning with other educators.
“Their selection to present at the TCEA conference indicates that they have achieved a level of expertise as leaders to assist other teachers across the state,” added Wade.
Wade will team-up with Knight for their own presentation focusing on ways districts can showcase innovative practices happening in their schools.
Dr. Bays, Superintendent, says FISD continues to focus on innovation to engage students in learning and create graduates who possess the skills to be successful in a quickly changing workforce.
Bays appreciates their work saying, “It’s never easy to submit a presentation proposal to a state-level organization. I am proud, but not surprised, that TCEA chose our staff to lead presentations that will help teachers and administrators all over Texas take risks and try innovative strategies in their classrooms and communities.”
