October Students of the Month

October Female Student of the Month

     Yesenia Arellano is the 17-year-old daughter of Rosy and Rafael Arellano.  She is in all advanced classes and is active in various aspects of school and the community.
     Yesenia is a member of the National Honor Society and received the Outstanding Student Award in Chemistry and Introduction to Culinary.  When not busy with academics, Yesenia participates in girls’ powerlifting, soccer (serving as team captain both her sophomore and junior years), track and field, and is the manager of the cross-country team.  She placed 3rd at the Medina Valley Track Meet. 
     In her spare time, Yesenia participates in Escaramuza (sidesaddle horse riding) and walks dogs at the Floresville No-Kill Shelter.  She has handed out water to runners during the Cross Country 5K Fundraiser and volunteers with Vacation Bible School at her church.  She works part-time at Whataburger, babysits neighborhood children, and works as a Co-Op student-helper at Floresville Middle School.           Upon graduation, Yesenia plans to attend San Angelo State University or UTSA where she would like to major in Physical Therapy.  Her top strengths are Context, Restorative, Futuristic, Learner and Relator.

October Male Student of the Month

     Kaden Quintanilla is the 17-year-old son of Alyssa Korzekwa.  He is in the top quarter of his graduating class and takes all advanced classes.
     Kaden serves as the National Honor Society Vice-President, has been the class of 2020 class president for the past four years, is a Link Crew leader, and participates on the UIL Academic Team in Journalism.  In his first year with the Journalism team, Kaden advanced to Regionals.  He received the Outstanding Student Award for Pre-AP Geometry and the Perfect Attendance Award for the past three years.  He has also been on the all “A” Honor Roll throughout high school.
     When not busy with his academics, Kaden volunteers with the National Honor Society Relay for Life and with Courage Ranch.  He works as a Co-Op student worker in the front office of Floresville High School and occasionally babysits and dog sits.
     Kaden hopes to attend Baylor, UT-Austin or Texas State University where he plans to become a college professor, radiologist or x-ray technician.  His top strengths are Adaptability, Positivity, Competition, Woo and Restorative.
