Floresville ISD Family,
I hope this letter finds you and your family safe and healthy. I want to share with you that, today, Governor Greg Abbott issued an Executive Order extending the closure of school buildings through the rest of the school year.
All of us at FISD are disappointed that we will not end the year face-to-face, but we want each of you to know that we remain committed to the success of our students. Our buildings may be closed but learning continues at FISD.
The FISD@Home Learning website will continue to house lessons created by your child’s teachers. For families who do not have a device or internet access, those same lessons will continue to be provided at packet pickup on Fridays for elementary students and on Mondays for secondary students or by home delivery requested through Skyward.
In addition to providing academic support, FISD will also continue to provide services that our families need. Meals for children will still be provided by delivery Monday through Friday and curbside on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Counseling support and resources are also available on the FISD Social Work Resource page.
The FISD principals and administrators are considering new ways to engage with students and families for end-of-year award ceremonies and other special events as well as senior activities.
I know there are still many questions you have regarding the end of this year and the beginning of next year. In the following days and weeks, FISD will receive additional guidance from the Texas Education Agency and will begin to answer those questions. Continue to monitor your email, our website, your campus website and our social media channels.
For the health of your family and our community, stay home when you can, practice social distancing and don’t forget your mask if you are out. You can continue to find updates on the FISD Coronavirus-COVID-19 Information page.
We will get through this together. Take good care of yourself and your family.
Dr. Sherri Bays
Superintendent of Schools
