This evening, the FISD Board of Trustees met and decided to continue requiring face coverings for the remainder of the 2020-2021 school year as set forth by the Texas Education Agency and outlined in the FISD Back-to-School Guidance as shown below.
Students in grades 1-12 will be required to wear face coverings (masks or face shields) when entering and exiting the building, when in hallways and common areas, when riding the bus, and when 6 feet of distancing cannot be maintained. The district will provide face shields for all Pre-K and Kindergarten students to be used during small group instruction or learning circles.
Adults will be required to wear face coverings when entering and exiting the building, when in hallways and common areas, and when 6 feet of distancing cannot be maintained.
Face Covering Exceptions:
- While eating with appropriate social distancing
- UIL allows for masks to be removed when students are participating in UIL or non-UIL extracurricular activities. However, students must wear masks when entering and exiting facilities and practice areas. Students may remove masks when actively engaging in those activities as long as 6 feet of distancing can be maintained
Thank you for your ongoing support as we make difficult decisions in the best interest of our students and staff.
