First Day Message from the Superintendent

August 13, 2021

Dear FlSD Families,

The first day of school is one of the most exciting days of the year for FISD. Our staff has been preparing for this day all summer, and we cannot wait to begin making a difference in students’ lives both academically and socially.  It is the first day of your child’s only 2021-2022 school year and every day of this year matters to you, to them and to us.

Every year presents different challenges and this one is no different. Be assured that FISD will monitor state and local health guidance and communicate with you when there are any changes that affect families. I also encourage you to communicate with us when you have questions. Your involvement in your child’s education is important, and we want to be your partner in it.

As always, we ask for your patience and understanding during these first days of school as we work through new bus routes and student transportation routines. Also, remember that traffic will be heavier around our campuses and bus stops. Please be careful and add a few minutes to your morning and afternoon trips to campuses.

Monday may be bittersweet for some of you because another year passes by and your children are closer to stepping out into the world as adults. I want you to know that beginning Monday, we will be helping prepare each one of them for that step. Together we can make incredible things happen for the students of FISD.

Wishing you and your child the very best first day of school. We will see you on Monday!

Sincerely,

Jason Gilstrap
Superintendent
