November Students of the Month

Calysta (Caly) Rethaber is the 18-year-old daughter of Sarah and James Rethaber. She is in the top ten of her class with an overall GPA of 104.7. 

Caly is very active on campus serving as a member of FFA and many of the organization’s teams, National Honor Society, Link Crew, and the Gifted and Talented program. In addition to her club and organization commitments, Caly has also played soccer for the Jaguars since her freshman year. She has received numerous awards such as All-A Honor Roll, Perfect Attendance, FFA Public Relations State Champion in 2018 and Soccer Bi-District Champion in 2021. 

In her free time, Caly volunteers as a referee with the Wilson County Soccer League and assists at the Wilson County No-Kill Animal Shelter. She also works part-time at Canyon Boutique.

Calysta plans to attend Texas A&M University College Station where she intends to major in Mechanical Engineering.

Brandon Cortez is the 17-year-old son of Bonnie and Aaron Cortez. He is in the top ten percent of his class with an overall GPA of 4.0. 

Brandon is very active on the campus serving as an active member of Link Crew, the Gifted and Talented program, and the National Honor Society. During school, Brandon works as an office aide at FHS, often making announcements and delivering supplies to classrooms. 

Brandon plays Varsity Football, Basketball and Track. He has received numerous awards including A Honor Roll,  Academic All-District for Football and Basketball, First Team All-District Safety and Area Qualifier in the 110m hurdles. 

In his spare time, Brandon works at Bill Miller. He plans to attend UTSA or The University of Texas Austin where he intends to major in Architecture.
