Message from the Superintendent

Dear FISD Families,

You are all likely aware of the tragedy that took place in Uvalde CISD; our hearts are broken for the families and community of Uvalde. Please keep them close to your hearts and in your prayers. I am also aware that as a result of this event, there may be members of our Floresville Family that need assistance as they process these events or their own losses. If you or a family member needs support, please visit the FISD Social Services website where you can contact our counselors as well as find helpful resources.

As always, the safety of our students and staff is our top priority. During the final days of school, we will be taking additional precautions including ensuring entrances and exits are secure and monitored. You will also notice an increased police presence around campuses.

We take safety seriously every day at FISD. Security at every campus is consistently monitored and reviewed by the FISD Police Department. Proactive protocols are in place and drills are routinely conducted at the campus level in cooperation with area law enforcement agencies. Lastly, FISD has measures in place to identify individuals who need counseling services, support and intervention. This proactive approach to our students’ well-being is paramount to providing a safe environment for all students and staff.

The responsibility of keeping your children safe is not one we take lightly. We will continue to review and refine our practices to create the safest possible environment for students and staff.

Jason Gilstrap, Ed.D.
