The start of a new year is a great time to make healthy lifestyle changes and, at FISD, we are helping each other make those changes and achieve our health and fitness goals! Donna Lynn, FISD District Nurse, and Pam Watson, FISD Food Service Director, are facilitating the Resolve to be Healthy Challenge 2016. Our staff can participate in one of two program activities to help motivate them as they strive to get, or stay, healthy!
For staff members wanting to lose a few pounds, we have a Biggest Loser Weight Loss Challenge, where the team and individual with the highest percentage of weight loss over a 12 week period will win prizes. For staff members who just want to work together to maintain their healthy habits, there is the Resolve to Be Healthy Monthly Challenge. Each month, this program focuses on healthy habits like exercising, drinking plenty of water, eating healthy breakfasts every day and stress management. This challenge is campus based and prizes are based on participation.
Campuses are organizing walks before or after school and lunch potlucks where participants bring healthy options to share. Not only are we getting healthier, we are building a community of people who are helping take care of one another. In the end, the competition is fun but a healthy, energetic and happy FISD staff is really the best prize! Be ready to hear a story or two about our progress!
