November Students of the Month

November Female Student of the Month

Emily Smith is the 17-year-old daughter of Penny and Dee Smith. Emily is in the top ten of her graduating class with a 4.0 GPA.            

Emily is an active member of the National Honor Society, Link Crew, FCA, and the Gifted & Talented program. She is has been a member of the Varsity Soccer Team for four years. As a member of the FFA, Emily is on the Agricultural Advocacy Team and the Floral Judging Team.  Emily is active in the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, and has led the invocation at football games and at the FISD Veterans Day Ceremony.  

Emily is in all advanced classes including Dual Credit and AP and has been on the All-A Honor Roll all four years of high school.  Emily received the Biology class award her freshman year.

When Emily is not busy with school, she is active in her church youth group and volunteers her time working in the church nursery. Emily also helps with vacation bible school during the summer. She is an outdoor sportsman where she enjoys spending quality time hunting with her dad. 

Emily has been accepted to Texas A&M University College Station where she plans to major in Biology. Emily’s strengths are Strategic, Achiever, Learner, Command and Focus.

November Male Student of the Month

Andrew Gonzales is the 18-year-old son of Carolina and Oscar Gonzales. He is in the top ten of his graduating class with a 4.0 GPA.

Andrew currently serves as the president of the Mighty Tiger Band, the vice-president of the Blackhill’s 4-H club, and a director for the 2018 Teen ACTS retreat. He is a member of the National Honor Society and the FHS UIL Academics team competing on several different teams including Literary Criticism, Current Events and History. Andrew has been on the All “A” Honor Roll for the past four years. 

Andrew volunteers much of his time to his church participating as an altar server and in various ACTS retreats. He has also participated in several Adopt-a-Highway campaigns and fundraisers. Andrew assists with the food pantry during the Holiday season.  He is the Office Manager at Krossfire Paintball where he has worked for two years.

Andrew has been accepted to the University of Texas at Austin where he intends to major in Business and Political Science.  After 4 years, he plans to apply to law school to become a federal lawyer.  Andrews’s strengths are Learner, Input, Analytical, Ideation and Consistency.
