Coronavirus (COVID-19) Information

Floresville ISD is closely monitoring COVID-19 with guidance from the San Antonio Metropolitan Health District, the Texas Department of State Health Services and the Center for Disease Control (CDC). We encourage our families to use the following resources to stay informed about the latest news regarding the virus.
Classes at FISD are canceled through Friday, May 1, 2020. See district communication dated March 31, 2020, located at the bottom of this page, for details.
 
Updates regarding cancellations will be made in conjunction with local, state and national health officials. Parents and guardians can expect communication from the district via email, text or phone call.

Meal Delivery for FISD Students

FISD Meal Delivery will begin on Monday, April 6, for families who have registered through the Skyward Family Access. Keep in mind, routing takes three business days so if families signed up after Wednesday, April 1, delivery will begin later in the week. If you haven’t signed up for meal delivery, we encourage you to do so by logging in to your Skyward Family Access account and clicking the tile labeled “FISD Meal Delivery”. Then, complete the form once for each child.

Contactless deliveries will be made Monday through Friday. To ensure the  health and safety of all involved, we ask that students and parents use the following guidelines during meal delivery:

  • An FISD staff member will deliver meals to homes and deliver either on the porch, sidewalk, or another safe delivery place.
  • The FISD Bus Driver will honk the horn to indicate that the meal has been delivered, and it is safe for parent/student pickup.
  • Parents/students may then retrieve the meals without any physical contact.

These preventative measures will assist in flattening the curve in our community and model the social distancing guidelines provided by local, state and federal officials. 

Curbside Meals During School Closure

Beginning Monday, April 6, meals will be distributed on Tuesdays and Thursdays at FHS and FNE only. Because of new Texas Department of Agriculture guidelines, the district can no longer provide meals for the weekend.

While children no longer need to be present at the time of pickup, the new Texas Department of Agriculture guidelines require the driver to provide documentation for the child or children for which you are picking-up meals. Beginning Friday, April 3, if you pick-up meals without your child(ren) in the vehicle, you must present one of the following for each child:

  • Official letter/email previously sent from child(ren)’s school
  • Individual student report cards or attendance records from the school parent portal
  • Birth certificate for children 
  • Student IDs from the school attended

Due to federal regulations, we are still unable to serve meals for adults.

Your child does not need to attend the campus where meals are being distributed.  

Families should not enter the building during meal pick up. Families that pick up meals by car should stay in their vehicles. Families are also welcome to walk to pick up meals. If your student currently has a modified meal on file, you can call the Floresville ISD Child Nutrition Department at 830-393-5300 to arrange an alternate meal for pickup.

Floresville ISD is committed to helping families in our community meet the nutritional needs of children. We will continue to provide meals while campuses are closed.

  1. All school-sponsored events and practices are canceled through April 21, 2020.
  2. STAAR State Assessments are canceled.
  3. Pre-K Round-up is postponed until further notice.
  4. FISD 5K is canceled. 
  5. Due to the concerns with travel and the containment of COVID-19, UIL is suspending all sanctioned contests and games through May 4, 2020.

The best way to prevent illness is to avoid being exposed to this virus. However, as a reminder, the CDC always recommends everyday preventive actions to help prevent the spread of respiratory diseases, including:

  • Wash your hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. If soap and water are not available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer.
  • Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth.
  • Stay home when you are sick.
  • Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash.
  • Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces using a regular household cleaning spray or wipe.
