The Floresville Independent School District began piloting Blended Learning in 2020 with grants from the Texas Education Agency and Raise Your Hand Texas. The program was first implemented in Reading Language Arts classrooms to help students meet the necessary foundational reading skills appropriate for their respective grade level.
Blended Learning provides students control over where, when, and how they do their classwork. Devices are used for personalization and classrooms allow for an integrated learning experience.
Blended Learning helps students learn more efficiently, fully, with mastery, anytime, anywhere, and in the best way for them, according to A Beginner's Guide to Blended Learning by Christin Leggett. It also helps teachers leverage time better, spread knowledge widely, engage a worldwide audience, build learning modules quickly, and improve instructional techniques.
A goal of the Floresville ISD Strategic Plan is to have 100% of teaches using a student-centered instructional model. Blended Learning is helping to reach that goal as it is expanded throughout the district.
