Reflecting on 2013-2014

As I reflect on this past year, there is much to be proud of at FISD.

Our FISD staff has demonstrated throughout the year their willingness to Cross the Line as we have been committed to our students, working hard to focus on providing challenging, meaningful learning experiences and bouncing back as we have learned from mistakes. In our efforts to develop the whole child, FISD students have been encouraged to use their strengths to make a difference and create a chain reaction of kindness, which was documented in two videos produced by our own FHS Video Production class.  FISD graduates are post-secondary ready, with plans to enroll and graduate from college, complete their military contracts, or be successful in the workforce with 175 students committed to attending college, 5 attending technical schools, 12 joining the military, and 36 joining the workforce. In addition, our students have competed successfully at the district, state and national levels in extracurricular events that challenged them both mentally and physically.

FISD has also worked hard this year to be transparent and open with our communications. The FISD Focus has provided a summary of FISD Board meetings, keeping staff and community informed about the actions of the FISD Board of Trustees. Open Forums on campuses have given FISD staff the opportunity to share their successes and challenges. We have also kept staff, parents and students informed by utilizing technology like Facebook and Remind 101.

I want to share my sincere gratitude with our FISD staff members, parents and community for your individual contributions as we work together to prepare our FISD students for a prosperous life.
