Coordinated School Health Program

In June 2005, the 78th Texas Legislature passed Senate Bill 42 (SB42) into law. Senate Bill 42 addresses children’s health through a coordinated school health approach to preventing obesity, cardiovascular disease and Type II diabetes in elementary, middle and junior high school students. The legislation was in response to the escalating health disparities in Texas youth and built upon the requirement for elementary schools to implement a Coordinated School Health Program established by Senate Bill 19.

In collaboration with the Health and Wellness Committee, the Floresville Independent School District has adopted and implemented the CATCH program.

Texas Senate Bill 9 Information for Parents and Guardians

According to Texas Senate Bill 9, Floresville ISD is required to provide instruction relating the prevention of child abuse, family violence, dating violence, sex trafficking, & reproductive and sexual health. Floresville ISD, with guidance from the Health and Wellness Committee, has approved the curriculum that will be used to teach each of these topics and has determined the grade level(s) that will receive instruction on each of these topics.
