Strategic Planning
Strategic planning is an effort that produces fundamental decisions and actions that shape and guide what an organization is, what it does, why it does it, and who it serves, with a focus on the future. It not only articulates where an organization is going and the actions needed to make progress, but also how it will know if it is successful.
The current Strategic Plan extends to 2023. Since the spring of 2018, district staff, students, parents and community members have worked collaboratively to create the FISD Core Beliefs, which both align with the FISD Vision and Mission.
In the spring of 2022, FISD started developing the Strategic Plan 2.0 to guide the district through 2026. Input gathered through student, staff, and community focus groups has helped reshape the district’s Mission, Vision, Beliefs, Goals, and Objectives as FISD strives to transform its work in schools to place the emphasis on the development of innovative, life-long learners who possess character traits to achieve personal and professional success.
The Strategic Plan 2.0 consists of four identified goals: excellent student outcomes, superior workplace environment, exceptional customer service and community engagement, and strategic resource management. The student, staff, and community input has allowed for the development of clearly articulated strategies that will help FISD reach its goals.
Being prepared for life after high school looks very different now than it did 20, or even 10 years ago. In order to truly prepare students for their futures, it is necessary for FISD to continue transitioning from a teaching-oriented culture to an innovative learning-oriented culture, encouraging the skills that create life-long learners and problem solvers. The strategic planning process will lead FISD to educating and preparing students for prosperous lives.
