Check this out! A group of Floresville Middle School Bilingual-ESL students visited Austin last week for the three-day Close Up Program! They learned about the government and history of Texas, toured the Bullock History Museum, Texas Capitol, UT, and LBJ Library, and took part in various activities. FHS Principal Dr. Joseph Farnsworth and FHS Academic Dean Dr. Brenda Cornell presented at the TASSP Summer Workshop this Thursday in Austin. In their presentation, "The 5 Pillars of School Effectiveness," they provided a framework designed for school leaders to find success on their campuses. Dr. Farnsworth and Dr. Cornell's session reached maximum capacity, attracting many school leaders seeking opportunities to continue their professional development.

The FHS Symphonic Band and FMS Wind Ensemble recently submitted recordings to the Association of Texas Small School Bands Outstanding Performance Series Competition. The recordings were evaluated by a panel of judges from a March Category and Concert Music Category, and the best three in the region for each category advanced to the Area level. The FHS Symphonic Band advanced to Area in both categories, while the FMS Wind Ensemble placed first overall in their class for Region 12 and advanced to Area with a piece in the Concert Music Category and the March Category.
South and North elementary schools' principals presented at the TCEA Elementary Technology Conference in Galveston on June 13. Heather Brooks and Monica Schlueter showcased FISD's implementation of blended learning in their presentation, "Bullseye! Does Your Blended Learning Model Hit the Rigor Target?" Mrs. Brooks and Dr. Schlueter shared how blended learning classrooms utilized personalized learning pathways that led to grade-level mastery and beyond.
